The XL Scallop Cups Rain Chain is one of the largest cup style rain chains on the market! This rain chain will handle heavy water flow conditions. The pure unfinished copper option will age to a lovely patina over time. If you love the look of aged copper, the Patina option will be perfect for you! The cups are made of thick, pure aluminum with a blue/green patina coating applied to give it that beautiful color right away. The raw aluminum option will darken over time. The powder-coat options will remain true to color. The aluminum and powder-coated options come with stainless-steel connecting wires for added strength.
To prevent damage in transit and reduce packaging volume, the upper wires are shipped separately from the cups, so some assembly is required. Each rain chain comes with a matching v-hook. The v-hook sits inside the gutter opening to hold the rain chain in place.
Installation Tip:
The connecting wires have threaded end nuts. We recommend dabbing a small amount of Loctite® Blue adhesive on each end nut to prevent them from unfastening. Available at any hardware or home improvement store. Click Here for cup assembly instructions.

This rain chain is very well made. The copper is thick, the attachment points are robust, and the cups are larger in person than I was expecting. I have no doubt it will last for many years.
I've tested it and seen it in a number of downpours now. It definitely handles high-flow, as advertised.
My only reason to remove a star is that it still flings a bit of water outside the cups and into the area surrounding the chain. Oddly, this seems to happen from the bottom of the spout on each cup - a little bit of water clings to the outside of the spout, and it's like the water coming down flings a bit of the clinging water out in small droplets. If the chain is placed far enough from the structure, this is not an issue.
Unfortunately for me, the downspout is close enough that this light spray hits my house. It's not a huge amount, but definitely more than with a traditional downspout. For reference, the chain center is about 2' from the siding. At 3 or 4 feet, it would not be an issue.
Over time, this could cause some issues with the paint and siding. I think the cup design would be tough to improve on though, and I really like the look. So I'm going to keep it and work on solving the spray problem.
