Rain Chain Installation Kits vs. V-Hooks

Which is right for you, a V-Hook or Installation Kit?

All the rain chains we offer come with standard V-Hook hangers. These work great for some applications but don’t function as well as rain chain Installation Kits.

V-Hook

The V-Hook is a very simple hanging device. When placed into the opening in your gutter (where a downspout would be) the hanger will provide a nice attachment point for your rain chain. To ensure a secure fit, you may need to bend the V-Hook slightly depending on the size of the hole in your gutter. Keep in mind water flowing out of the gutter won’t be perfectly directly onto the rain chain. If you're not worried about heavy rainfalls or splashing water, the V-Hook should work just fine for you!

Pros:

  • Simple installation process
  • Included with your rain chain

Cons:

  • Rainwater may miss the rain chain
  • Likely to splash during storms

Installation Kit

Installation kits are a great way to ensure water will flow from your gutter directly onto your rain chain. The sleeves on the installation kits will direct flowing water down onto your rain chain. This will ensure the rain chain will function properly and water will not miss the top of the chain. We recommend using an installation kit with any rain chain used in a climate that receives heavy rainfall! We offer a variety of different installation kits for different gutter setups, Click Here to learn about all the options.

Pros:
