Spring is a great time to give your rain chain a quick inspection and cleaning after a long winter season.
Inspect the gutter attachment to make sure it is still secure and properly connected. You should also check the ground anchor or basin below the rain chain to make sure it has not shifted or become loose over the winter months. If you notice any worn or damaged parts, we offer spare parts and replacement pieces to help get your rain chain back in shape.
If you've lost some end-nuts, cups, or top wires during the winter, no worries! We sell top wires and end-nuts by the dozen and replacement cups individually, just fill out our spare parts form and we'll work on getting those to you. When you install the end-nuts, be sure to use a dab of Blue Loctite on each one. This will help keep the end-nuts in place in the outside elements.

Leaves, sticks, and other buildup can affect water flow and cause clogs. In many cases, you can simply remove debris by hand. If needed, spray the rain chain with a hose to wash away dirt and smaller debris.
To clean up dirt and grime off of your rain chain, it's best to use warm water, mild soap, and a soft cloth or sponge. For copper products, you can use a copper cleaner to polish the copper and get it looking like new again if you prefer. It takes a lot of elbow grease, however it's possible. Copper cleaner is available at any local hardware store. It's best to test a small area first to be sure you're happy with the results. We recommend letting your copper products age and patina naturally.
